Thinking about what we have read so far in Frankenstein how does it relate to the each of the topics YOU presented?
ReplyDeleteThe topic I presented was ghost stories and other fictional stories like fallen angels. But in scene 1 of Frankenstein some people thought he was a wizard and that is fiction.
Thinking about the topic you studied what questions do you have about the play so far?
Where does Frankenstein live?
What other friends does he have?
Do a lot of people hate him for what he created so far?
How is the play written differently than Good Night Mr. Tom? (how is the setting described, what we are told about the characters, how do we know the tone of the speakers)
In the book GNMT they showed the emotions of the characters so you could know how they feel because you aren’t watching it happen you are just reading but in the book Frankenstein after a sentence or before a sentence it tells you the emotion of the speaker so in the play the actor knows how to say that sentence.
Are there any links between the horrors your book you are reading for our independent reading genre and what you know about Gothic Literature and play Frankenstein?
I haven’t noticed any connection yet between my book and Frankenstein besides they are both gothic literature books but I know there will be.

The use water to:
• Clean themselves
• Water crops
• Fishing
• Live stock
• Transport
• Drink
• Know when to travel
How do people try to conserve water?
They try to conserve water by using simple ways to save tons of water that is easy to do.
Do you think that we should have a lock on the water supply from time to time? Please explain your reason!
I think we should because then we know the true meaning of water and then try to help save water because we know how it feels to be without water so we try to prevent it.
The topic I was working on was Monsters in 17th centuries. And the book Frankenstein relates to my topic because basically Frankenstein created a monster which seems to be the scariest monster during the 17th centuries.
ReplyDeleteThese are the question about Frankenstein:
1) Do a lot of people hate Frankenstein?
2) Is Frankenstein a good person?
3) What will happen to Frankenstein at the end?
The play for both Frankenstein's monster and Goodnight Mr.Tom are completely different. So far in Frankenstein's monster, the setting is so cold and gloomy but in Goodnight Mr. Tom, the setting was really warm and nice. The book Goodnight Mr.Tom describe the characters perfectly but the Frankenstein's monster,They only talk about what happened to them but not how they look like in the Character's part.
I'm not quite sure if it links to my book because I only read the first chapter and the book don't tell much about how the girl dies.

Frankestein relates to the topic I presented because I presented monsters in the 18th century, and Frankenstein was one of those monsters that were feared in during the gothic era.
So far the questions I have about frankenstein are:
1. when frankenstein turns into a monster, is he still good on the inside?
2. After frankenstein changes, is Clerval still his friend?
3. Why does frankenstein become a monster?
Frankenstein the play is written differently from Good Night Mr. Tom because in GNMT, the characters are discribed in detail, but in frankenstein, they only give brief details about characters. In frankenstein, there is narration given to support the actions of the characters, whilst in GNMT, the character does the action themselves and it is written from the characters point of view. The setting in frankenstein is dark and gloomy, but in GNMT, although there are some sad bits, most of the time the setting is bright, welcoming and warm.
I don't think there are many links between frankenstein and my book. The only big link is that both books involve monsters. Otherwise, my book is about vampires and there life whilst frankenstein is about a scientist creating monsters.
I dont know much about frankenstein except for that he is a scientist and creates monsters.

People try to conserve water in very simple but effective ones.
Yes, I think we should have a lock on the water supply from time to time because sometimes we use too much water without knowing and then it turns out that you didn't even need to waste the water. People should have limited ammount of water use and if they want extra they have to pay double, this way it is giving people the idea that water is that free and it is limited and the resource SHOULDNT be wasted that effortlessly.
The topic I was working on was about fictional storys like ghost storys. in other words it is campfire storys that people tell to get other people scared.
ReplyDeleteMy questions about frankinstein are
1. why was the monster so hated and why was he called a monster?
2.Is frankenstein a good person?
The main different about frankenstein and Good Night Mr.Tom is that the atmostphere is explained in detail as is the setting and what the charicters emotions are.
I have not yet found any links from my book to
frankenstein but later on I'm sure i will.
People use water in these ways:

people try to save water in small ways that in a while will make a huge difference.
Yes I think we do need to put a lock on the water supplie every once ina while. these are my reasons:
1.you will save a lot more water if you have a lock
2.It is alot cheaper
3. and you will be making the envirment be sustained longer.

ReplyDeleteBy looking at the Nile video people use water for:
1. Washing themselves
2. Watering crops
3. Knowing when to travel to another spot
4. Drinking
5. Transporting
People are conserving the water by:
1. When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.
2. Adjust the sprinkler so it will water your lawn but not your house or the street
3. Plant in fall because the weather is cool and there is a lot of rainfall
I think yes because we need to understand how it feels to live with no water. Around the world many people have no access to water so we must know we are lucky to have water as it is a limited resource on earth. And also we also must understand to save it. If we try living without water, then we will know how it feels when the water around the world are polluted and are not drinkable.

ReplyDeleteWhen I viewed the nile video I noticed a lot of different things. I noticed that people use water for taking a bath, watering plants and crops that they were farming, transportation and they used it for drinking and I also noticed that not only the people use it but animals and fish use it for drinking living or hunting.
I think that we should not have a lock on the water supply from time to time because I think the everyone should have access to clean water at all times and it is just unfair if you cant access it if it has a lock on it. Besides you really need to drink water because it is extremely hot and you might be dehydrated and have a heat stroke.

It is related to the book because i did about MAry Shelley and she was the author.

Why must Mary Shelley write a horror story about monster?
How is the play written differently than Good Night Mr. Tom? (how is the setting described, what we are told about the characters, how do we know the tone of the speakers)
Good night Mr.Tom was a book or novel a story, but Frankenstein is a play so how it describe the character is different.

I dont think that it links to my book because frankenstein is about a monster and my book is about a mysterious creature living at the lake.

My topic was Mary Shelley so it is related to what we read in frankenstein because she was the one who wrote it! Mary Shelley was the author of the play book and the real book so that is how it is related.

Why do people call him a wizard?

Some of the things which is different from the play and the book is that in the play, they are dialogues and they don't show what people think but in the book, you can see what people are thinking as it is clearly written down.
Are there any links between the horror your book you are reading for our independent reading genre and what you know about Gothic Literature and play Frankenstein?
No, there aren't any links because mine isn't so scary as it is a little bit more romance than horror so it isn't related to frankenstein.

Washing their Crops

People are conserving the water by:
1. When watering plants and using the sprinkler, water is the same period of time everyday so you don't waste water by using too much.
2. Planting crops in the fall as there is a lot of rainfall int hat season so you use less water and use more water of the rain.
3. When washing dishes( by hand) closing the tap when not using water.
Yes, I think we should have a locked period of time to use water as some people use more water than they are supposed to and some people just get carried away while playing or using water. I also think this because everyone should have access to clean water instead of just rich people as it is not fair to those who are born in a poor family. Besides these reasons, everyone should be ablee to drink clean water because the temperature is very hot and they need water(clean) to keep the from dehydrating.

The topic that chose to work on was "Monsters" during the 17th century. The monster that my group mainly focused on was Count Dracula but we also did a lot of research on Frankenstein's Monster. I think that my topic relates to the book "Frankenstein's Monster" because we researched on the Monster and found out how he was created and why.
My Questions on Frankenstein's Monster:
1)Why did the Monster become evil and nasty?
2)Did the Monster become evil because nobody loved him and he never felt what it was liked to be loved?
3)Did Frankenstein's Monster "Want" to be created?
I think that the book 'Good Night Mr.Tom' is completely different from the book Frankenstein's Monster because in the good night mr.Tom they explain the setting but not so much the characters but in Frankenstein's Monster seeing and the version that we are reading is like a script they tell you when the setting changes and when what character comes at what time and their actions.
There are some links between my book and Frankenstein's Monster because they are both monsters and it all, mainly, happens at night. Like in most horror books my book, Blackbriar, is based on the story/movie/book Amytiville horror, which is based in the 18th century.

I think that people use water to:
1)Travel
2)Bathe
3)Drink
4)Capture food(like fish)
5)Water the crops
6)cook
7)Cleaning your clothing
8)To tell when it was time to move from there home and find a new one.
Ways to conserve water:
1) to only use a small amount of water a day
2)(in my opinion) takes less baths and more showers but take only 3-4 minutes long.
3)dont wash your clothes every single day, maybe every other day.
4)make less beer!
5) turn off water when it is not being used
i think at time to time we should have a lock on water because there are some careless people who waste water and leave it running when it is not needed. i think this because when you are at home i bet at some point in the day you will leave the taps running or the shower running while you are busy doing something else and "forget" to turn it off or just say you will turn it off later.

ReplyDeleteThe topic I worked on was about Supersistitions. Even though the first part of the book 'Frankenstien' that we had read didn't really have any thing to do with Supersistitions just yet, I think that later in the book, important supersistitions like friday the 13th might have a part in the book.
Some questions I have on Frankenstien right now;
1)How did the monster turn evil?
2)Did Dr. Frankenstien wanted the monster to be evil?
In the book Goodnight Mr. Tom, the settings are in more detial but in Frankenstien, you can only get the setting from the dialoge and the narrate. Also in the book Goodnight Mr.Tom, sometimes there are thoughts and feeling of the characters but in Frankenstien, it's just dialoge about the storyline not about thoughts or feelings of the characters.
From the first part of the horror book I'm reading, there are not really any main connections to the book Frankenstien but my horror book has connections to the topic (Superstitions) that I research because they have things about ghosts.

People try to save water in a very small easy way which everyone can do. But these little changes affect a lot of water use per day. For example I use the taps a lot by the results I got by doing an making a graph of the water use for different categories. And one simple way to save water is to close the tap while brushing your teeth.

I think that we should have a lock on the water supply from time to time because sometimes the water taps are opened when you didn’t even noticed. But in an other way it is bad because if there is a lock to a water supply from time to time we would not be able to flash the toilet, we can’t wash our hands when it is dirty and we can’t wash ourselves when we are dirty on that time.

ReplyDeleteThinking about what we have read so far in Frankenstein how does it relate to the each of the topics YOU presented?
So far that we've read the story Frankenstein doesn't have much to do with superstitions yet but I am sure that as we read on there will be more topics raised to do with superstitions.
Thinking about the topic you studied what questions do you have about the play so far?
- Who's body did he get for the monster?
- Is it because of the body that Frankenstein got that made the monster bad? (Maybe because the person who lived in the body before had a bad soul)
How is the play written differently than Good Night Mr. Tom? (how is the setting described, what we are told about the characters, how do we know the tone of the speakers)
The play is written different from Goodnight Mr. Tom as Goodnight Mr. Tom is a novel and it describes the setting in clear detail and the feelings and emotions are described very clearly but in the play the setting is being written in ITALICS, and the emotion and the mood is not written down but the face that the characters made is also written in italics.
Are there any links between the horror your book you are reading for our independent reading genre and what you know about Gothic Literature and play Frankenstein?
I have not started reading my horror book yet so I'm not sure but I already know the book that I am reading (Marked - P.C Cast and Kristin Cast)and it takes place in this era so I think that it would be different in terms of technology and beliefs.

I do not think that we should have a lock on water supply because that would be inconvenient for A LOT of people. Instead, I think the government should educate people on how we can conserve water and how we are all running out of water and also raise awareness. Organizations and even schools can initiate activities that help raise awareness to either small or large group of people. I think that is a better way to still be able to use water when you need to but knowing the importance of it and using the appropriate amount without having a lockdown.

Some questions i have after reading the play so far are:
-How did Frankenstein managed to be in the ice place?
-Whose body did Frankenstein get to be the monster?
I have noticed things in the Frankenstein play script that are written differently from Goodnight Mr. Tom. In Frankenstein they tell us what the characters have to say, where to move and when to enter or exit. But in Goodnight Mr. Tom They describe the character's feelings, emotions and settings.
So far that I have been reading Frankenstein i have not been able to make any connections with my horror book yet because so far that i have read my book it isn't about ghosts are Gothic things yet. But i think that my book would be different from Frankenstein because in the blurb it mentions about a person seeing ghosts and Frankenstein is about a professor creating a monster.

-Cleaning themselves
-Planting crops
- Drinking water and using to cook food
-Getting food
By looking at the website you sent us i have also seen that people today also have ways to conserve water, some i noticed are:
-When washing dishes fill 2 tubs, one for cleaning and one for washing
-Water your plants in the evening are morning so not much water would get evaporated.
-Use sprinklers to water large grass areas
-Turn water knob tightly after using water so there are no leaks
Even though some humans may use water unwisely i think no one should lock the water supply. if the water supply gets locked then when people need water urgently and the water supply gets locked no one can have access to it and that will cause a lot trouble. water is a very precious substance on earth but not everyone appreciates it. Even though there might be people wasting water but i think there are more people that need water than wasting i so i think water supply should not be locked.

Ans. The book "Frankenstein" is completely different from the book "Good night Mr. Tom". I think this because the setting of the Good night Mr. tom book is in a normal city, but the setting of the book "Frankenstein" is in a little cottage which is over the mountains. AQ3. The difference between the play Frankenstien and normal story is that you are supposed to act out plays and they anre also narrated. As both of the storys have a different genre it affects the story. The setting is taken place in different places but one of the similar things is that Frankenstien and Goodnight Mister Tom are in the 1900's. In both the books the way they set it out is different.
AQ4. So far because of the overdue book I could not check out a book but otherwise I'm not sure because the book I'm going to read is involving ghosts not monsters. Their might be a few ways that the two books relate.

ReplyDeleteThinking about what we have read so far in Frankenstein how does it relate to the each of the topics YOU presented?
Because it has the same kind of way of scaring you. Like that robots and that kind of stuff will take over the world.
Thinking about the topic you studied what questions do you have about the play so far?
Why doesn’t Frankenstein show the collage his work so he gets real tools, and utilities. Why didn’t he show Claravel 4 years ago?
How is the play written differently than Good Night Mr. Tom? (how is the setting described, what we are told about the characters, how do we know the tone of the speakers)
We had the narrorater just plain tell us instead of showing us. And it was told from a 1st person view in Frankenstein, but in good night mr tom it was changing all the time.
Are there any links between the horror your book you are reading for our independent reading genre and what you know about Gothic Literature and play Frankenstein?
It was in a gothic period, and Marry Shelly was of the first people to write in gothic literature style.

ReplyDeleteFrankenstein doesn't really relate to superstitions because it doesn't really tell anything about superstitions. I think that if we read more, there might be something about it because Frankenstein is a Horror Literature so there must be something about superstitions.
After reading part of the Frankenstein play, i had many questions:
Why isn't Clarvel very frightened to see what Frankenstein had done instead of being interested and fascinated in Frankenstein's discovery?
How could Frankenstein keep his creation experiments a secret for many years, does the house have maids that had found it?
Compared to Goodnight Mr.Tom, Frankenstein was quite different. In Frankenstein, the setting was a brief description but in Goodnight Mr.Tom the book describes the setting in a lot of detail. But Frankenstein tells us more where some important things are in the play. Frankenstein tells us about the character by telling us how they act in each line said by another character and their responses also what they do. Goodnight Mr.Tom describes a character by telling the details of a character's apperances and their pasts. Frankenstein just plainly says if the character has a low voice or anything like that, mostly with the character's actions and also in brackets. Goodnight Mr. Tom describes tones by describing the tone of the voice after what a character just said.
My independent reading book doesn't show a link to Frankenstein but shows a lot about superstitions like how a doctor doesn't believe his friend that a drum made of human knuckles that was given by a stranger who said to destroy the curse in it is really a curse.

People in the powerpoints and some ways to try to save water by:
-Locking the tap for saving water which is a source of precious minerals.
-Use water sprinklers to water large grass areas so you will not use to much water using a hose.
-Turn the water tap knob tightly after using water so there are no leaks.
I don't think that we should all had a lock on water because when we are in need of water and we don't have water, we might have a lot of porblems. For example, if you are very thirsty after playing sports,if sand gets in your eye, if you have an infectious and dirty wound.

ReplyDeleteMy chosen subject was the Monsters in the 17th century but it is mostly about Count Dracula but we researched about frankenstein as well. I think monsters in the 19th century is related to the frankenstein book because we knew about how monsters were made and why they were made.
Some questions I have after reading the play:
Q1: Was the monster that frankenstein made born evil?
Q2: Whose body did frankenstein use to make the monster?
So far that i have read the Frankenstein book there is a big difference between Good night Mr. Tom and Frankenstein book because in the Frankenstein book they tell us directions and where to enter or exit. But in Goodnight Mr. tom it tells the reader how the charter is feeling and the emotions and settings.
So far that i have ead my individual reading my book does not have anything that relates to the frankenstein book because my book is a mystery type of horror .

-take a bath

how do people try to conserve water?
- Lock the usage of water per day
- Adjusted sprinklers so the water would only come to your garden
- Upgrade toilets to a more water-efficient model
I don't think that we should lock on water because maybe when you need for emergency there wont be water for you to use for example. washing wounds, washing dirty feet's/hands, after playing sports, etc

ReplyDeleteThinking about what we have read so far in Frankenstein how does it relate to the each of the topics YOU presented?
It represents my topic the most from my opinion because my topic was Galvani and his scientific experiments and Frankenstein is based on Galvani and Galvanism (Animal Electricity) the made the “Monster”.
Thinking about the topic you studied what questions do you have about the play so far?
Is it possible to make a human hand twitch like the frog legs Galvani experimented on?
How is the play written differently than Good Night Mr. Tom? (How is the setting described, what we are told about the characters, how do we know the tone of the speakers)
From what I realized was that in front of each sentence it would say “Frankenstein:” and then the sentence. But in Goodnight Mr. Tom is would say “Said Willie” and the book is like a script you would read in a Christmas play.
Are there any links between the horrors your book you are reading for our independent reading genre and what you know about Gothic Literature and play Frankenstein?
Yes, my horror book is also in the gothic period because it has vampires in it which in the gothic periods there was Count Dracula. There are also these creatures that are made up of dead people similar to the “Monster in Frankenstein but the creature was reborn with magic.

The uses of Water:
• Fishing
• Cleaning themselves
• Growing crops and plants
• Cooking food
After looking at the PowerPoint, sent by email, how do people try to conserve water?
• Turn Taps off and making sure that they are not running.
• Taking short baths.
• Having a limited amount of water used per a day.
Do you think that we should have a lock on the water supply from time to time? Please explain your reason!
I do not think that we should have a lock on water supply because that would be inconvenient for A LOT of people. And if it is and emergency at 1 in the morning and there is a fire and you can’t access the water victims are going to die. Instead the government should educate people on live T.V on how we can save water and how water is limited and could also raise awareness. Organizations are also already starting to raise awareness so I think that the amount of water wasted will decrease without having a lockdown.

It relates to my presentation because I did about Marry Shelly which she qas the author of the book frankinstien.
Thinking about the topic you studied what questions do you have about the play so far?
1.How old is Frankinstien?
2.Where did he get the body from?
How is the play written differently than Good Night Mr. Tom? (how is the setting described, what we are told about the characters, how do we know the tone of the speakers)
We know it by the good night Mr.Tom it's telling us what is happen in the story and the perspectives of each person and their emotions. But in Frankinstien it tells us what to do and what to act.

Use a unwasting amount of water per person.
Check the pipes that their are no leaks.
Make the water not pump to much water per day
I don't think we should lock down on water because it is a main source for every living thing like using for drinking or for emergency like washing out the germs or other stuff. If their is a lock down their would be a whole lot of change in the world.

--Thinking about what we have read so far in Frankenstein how does it relate to my topic I presented?
ReplyDeleteIn the first few pages Dr Frankenstein explained that all of his research was all based on the Italian scientist and Professor Luigi Galvani. Dr Frankenstein explained that he was trying to prove that Galvani’s theory not only existed in frogs but also in other living things like humans.
--How is the play written differently than Good Night Mr. Tom? (How is the setting described, what we are told about the characters, how do we know the tone of the speakers)
The play is different from a normal novel like ‘Goodnight Mister Tom’ because right before the next scene takes place the Narrator always explains were we are, what had happened in the small gap that happens after every scene. In a novel like Goodnight Mister Tom you need to read between the lines but in a screen play the narrator explains most of it. With descriptions in a screen play the narrator describes everything very clearly so when your performing you don’t get confused but in a novel the author makes it very creative and tries to make a vivid explanation in your mind.

The horror book I am reading has vampires and other ghostly creatures in it and links to the time when the book Frankenstein was made, because of superstitions and other beliefs.

After viewing part of the NILE video in class, in what ways do people use water?
People use water from the river Nile to water their crops when the floods come because it has very nutrient silt for the crops. They also use it for transportation and can catch fish as currency and food. They also use it to bath and keep the livestock alive by bathing them and drinking water.
How do people try to save water?
People conserve water by using very simple but effective water saving techniques.

does frankenstien run on a type of battery because he only moves when he is electrified
How is the play written differently than Good Night Mr. Tom? (how is the setting described, what we are told about the characters, how do we know the tone of the speakers)
because a book has the main characters thoughts so you know what he is thinking and describes the setting where as in a play you see the settin g and on the script it just has what people are saying.

How is the play written differently than Good Night Mr. Tom? (how is the setting described, what we are told about the characters, how do we know the tone of the speakers) The play is a script for actors to act out. the book is for a reader. therefore the play is more detailed so the actor can act it out more dramatically.
